The rainy season is almost upon us

At Beyond Carpet and Flood restoration we do a wonderful job of restoring your home to preflood conditions. we have excellent response time and have never lost a basement yet.

Emergency! Emergency! Danger Danger Will Robinson. A friend called me yesterday with an emergency. They had people over to their Glen Ellyn home for their small group bible study and one woman didn't see the step down into the family room.

varoom! she launched hot coffee all over the couch, the carpets, the walls and herself.

they blotted and wiped and did what they could but bottom line there was a huge coffee stain on the edge of the carpet. He called me the next day.

one 0f the problems with coffee is its complexity. there are tannins in there. add sugar and milk and you've got proteins and complex other things going on. the kicker was that it was hot coffee.

hot water relaxes the carpet, combine the hot water in the coffee with the dye found in the coffee and you've got a recipe for disaster. the hot coffee can open up the dye cells in the carpet fiber and redye the carpet to the color of the coffee. If this happens it is impossible to get the stain out because the acid in the drink has redyed the carpet. this IS now the color of the rug.

fortunately, this was not the case at their home. they'd jumped on the stain, did all they could and then contacted Beyond carpet and flood restoration immediately. we were able to move some things around and came out quickly.

a major shot of secret sauce and lots of dwell. as long as we were out he added some rooms so we vacuumed and prepped the other rooms while the coffee stain removal sauce did it's thing.

while we were in one of the son's rooms the dad moved the bed and there was a stain, orange pop, he had made years ago. "I don't know? I'll do my best but it's had a decade to burn into the rug."

I was carpet cleaning in Lombard yesterday when I brought out my bag of fun and added to it. My bag of fun is something no other cleaner has. It’s a recycled garbage bag filled with dirt. The dirt comes from the carpets I just cleaned.

See, your carpets hold and trap dirt, dust mites, allergens, and dry particulate. Your regular vacuuming only takes out so much of it. The rest stays in there grinding away at your precious fibers wearing them away to useless junk. It’s a lot easier to do carpet cleaning in Lombard if I remove the dry soil first instead of turning it mud and then trying to extract the mud.

We use Oreck and Dyson vacuums on every job. Some of the most powerful units ever made. The Dyson is especially nice because it has a quick release dirt cup canister.
