dog urine in carpets

dogs pee.  fact of life. what can you do yourself?

first figure out why he/ she is peeing. is she acting out. was it just that a dog can't hold it in 18 hours?

figure out why she is is peeing on your rug. sometimes when i tell one of my dogs no, he will run up to my room, and pee on the carpet outside my bedroom door. acting out. what a brat!

I recused you and that's how you love me?

lets say he has peed on a small rug you can actually move without throwing your back out.

bring it out to the deck or driveway on a sunny warm day.

mix up a 30% mixture of white vinegar and 70% clear water.   soak the affected area and give it 15 minutes dwell time. then do the Texas two step. walk on those wet spots and work the solution into the fiber.

drag out your hose and flush, flush flush.  the acid in the vinegar will help neutralize the acid in the pee, the and water flushes everything away.

if you've got wet vac suck out as much water as possible. if not towels and blotting then put the rug up on something that won't bleed or rust and allow to air dry. on a warm day you could even have it back in place clean and dry. for more extensive problems call us.   630 932 8004
April and the flowers are blooming. the dogwood in fragrant and my two dogs are odiferous.  logan and albert stay home most days. sometimes for hours by themselves. when i get home there is an unmistakeable doggy odor to the home.

what can be done about it?  Other than getting rid of the dogs?

open the window, put the smaller area rugs and even some of the larger ones out on the deck or even in the driveway with a couple of chairs underneath. it's amazing how fresh blowing air can refresh your tired, smelly carpets and rugs.

of course, if you pet has had an accident. that's another matter for freshening up the rug. more on that next time.
