sometimes man's best friend can be your carpets worst enemy.
It stormed one night and our dogs in our wheaton home were freaking out.
I got up early like i always do and the dogs were whining to come into the office.
No, I have work to do. So Logan decided to pay me back.
He flipped the gate at the bottom of the stairs with his nose and trotted up to my bedroom.
the second floor is carpeted, area rugs on the first floor.
since my bedroom door was closed he left his message right outside my door. when Mabel got up and walked barefoot on the carpet a moment later i heard a blood curdling scream. Logan headed for the hills and I got the privilege of hauling out my cleaning equipment to clean my own home.
dogs sometimes pee on carpets. because they're scared or mad or just felt like it. how you handle it will often determine if that pee will become a permanent stain.
we recommend the following process. first, extract as much pee as possible. a small shop vac is idea. don't have one? bummer but not the end of the world. old towels work well too. blot but do not rub the spot to absorb as much fluid as possible. DO NOT DUMP RESOLVE OR DAWN ON YOUR CARPET. this will only make things much, much worse. next, after absorbing as much pee as possible take some white vingar and water. say, 10% vinagar/90% water mixure and saturate the carpets in and around the spot. maybe a pint more towels please. fold them over and double them up and place them on the spot. then put something heavy on the towels.
the natural capillary action of the carpet will draw the damp into the towel and out of the rug.
Putting a fan on the spot will speed up the wicking and drying.
